1/3 cup Kentucky bourbon
1/3 cup soy sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 lb beef sirloin, flank, or rib steak


Mix above, pour over steak in a shallow dish – after two hours turn steak (total time to marinade 4 hours). Bring out 1/2 hour before grilling. Let sit.

Cook steak, turning once with tongs (not to pierce meat). 6 minutes on each side for medium rare or 8 for medium.

Transfer to a cutting board, let sit 10 minutes. Slice diagonally across the grain.


I served it on a bed of rice, green salad. Top meat with some shallots/or green onion YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!


The Kentucky bourbon can be replaced by 2 Tbsp vanilla + 3 Tbsp water. Bourbon is a distilled spirit and should be free of proteins. If you need to avoid all grains, even distilled alcohols, use an alcohol free vanilla flavoring.

To avoid wheat, select a wheat-free soy/tamari sauce. If avoiding corn, avoid soy sauce made with corn sweeteners or added caramel coloring.
