Citrus-Ginger Cranberry Sauce

1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup orange juice
1 10 oz pkg fresh or frozen cranberries
1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger
1/4 cup nuts of choice (walnut, pecan work well) (optional)
2 small oranges, zest and pieces cut up


Boil orange juice, sugar, orange zest and ginger until sugar dissolves. Add cranberries and boil until berries pop, about 5 minutes. Stir in orange pieces and nuts. Let cool and serve.



To avoid tree nuts, omit optional nuts.
