Mash one can of beans and set aside. In a large saucepan cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain. Discard all except 2 tablespoons or so of the grease from the pan. Add the carrots and onion to the pan and cook over medium heat until tender. Stir in the chicken broth, bacon and mashed beans and cook over medium heat until heated through. Season with salt and pepper.
