2 lb ground beef
1 cup quick oats
1 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tbsp basil
1/4 onion, finely chopped (optional)
1/2 cup boiling water
to taste salt and pepper
dash cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
dash allspice


Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Form into a loaf and bake in any pan that will leave some drainage around the meat for the grease to accumulate so it can be drained off easily.

Bake at 375 °F for 45 minutes or until done.


Optional but delicious – mix up some orange juice, brown sugar, and ketchup and put under and over loaf before it goes into the oven. This was delicious!
