Recipe Information

Recipe Created By: Joanne M

1 1/2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla extract
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups butter
4 tsp pure anise extract

Mix eggs and then add sugar. Melt the butter and stir it into the egg mixture. Add the extracts and mix. Slowly add the flour and baking powder. Cook on the pizzelle iron until just barely brown.

Don’t forget that when they come off the pizzelle iron they’re very flexible. So, you can mold them into different shapes. Use them as cannoli shells…make little ice cream bowls out of them…roll into little tubes.

It is unknown whether this works well with margarine.
Butter and Margarine: Butter is a dairy product made from cow’s milk. Margarine typically contains milk or soy, but there are milk-free and soy-free versions available.
Corn Substitutions: Corn is a common ingredient in products. Starch, modified food starch, dextrin and maltodextrin can be from corn. Consult with your physician to find out which corn derivatives you need to avoid. Many corn-free options are available in the US. Find out more about corn substitutions.
Gluten: Gluten is a protein found in specific grains (wheat, spelt, kamut, barley, rye). Other grains are naturally gluten-free but may have cross-contact with gluten-containing grains. Look for certified gluten-free products if you need to avoid gluten. Find out more about wheat and gluten substitutions.
