In microwave safe bowl, pour 1 cup Lyle's Golden syrup and microwave until at rolling boil, about 1 minute.
Add crispy rice cereal and mix with wooden spoon or spatula until well coated.
Using parchment paper scoop in 1/2 cups in to your hand with parchment paper and shape into balls, squeezing gently. I put them in festive cupcake papers.
Cool and enjoy!
This recipe is formulated for kids eating rice only that are allowed to have sea salt and white sugar. Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice Cereal and Lyle's Golden Syrup were the specific brands used. This recipe will work with any safe crispy rice cereal.
Simple syrup made from just sugar and water won't work in this recipe. You could try honey or agave nectar but this has not been tried.
