Recipe Created By: Curlychic74

Ingredients

1/2 stick margarine
40 large marshmallows
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
12 cups popped popcorn
food coloring (optional)

Directions

Melt margarine in 3-quart saucepan on low heat.

Add marshmallows, vanilla, and salt; cook until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring constantly. (Add a couple of drops of yellow and red food coloring if you want to have orange popcorn balls for Halloween.)

Place popcorn in a large bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn; mix lightly to coat.

Shape mixture into 10 (3-inch) balls with lightly greased hands. Place on sheets of wax paper; let stand until firm.

Store in airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

I’ve also seen some recipes where you add candy (candy corn, cinnamon candies, etc.) with the popcorn for an extra little treat!

Substitutions

Butter and Margarine: Butter is a dairy product made from cow’s milk. Margarine typically contains milk or soy, but there are milk-free and soy-free versions available.
Corn Substitutions: Corn is a common ingredient in products. Starch, modified food starch, dextrin and maltodextrin can be from corn. Consult with your physician to find out which corn derivatives you need to avoid. Many corn-free options are available in the US. Find out more about corn substitutions [1].
