Recipe Information

Recipe Created By: Laura Giletti

Ingredients

1 lb potatoes (or other veg, see note)
salt (optional)
pepper (optional)
margarine (optional)
chicken stock (optional)
cooked ground meat (optional)
milk or milk substitute (optional)

Directions

Peel and boil the potatoes until they are soft. Mash the potatoes and add salt, pepper, margarine, chicken stock, cooked ground meat if using, and/or milk or milk substitute as desired until you like the taste.

Use piping bag with a wide tip to put onto a baking sheet in lines or dots or whatever shape you fancy. If you don’t have a piping bag let the potatoes cool and then put in a sturdy ziplock bag, snip off a corner and use that. Bake in a moderate (375 °F) oven until the tops are golden brown.

After they cool completely you can freeze them.

Notes

Substitutions

You can use many vegetables, not just potato. This can be done with carrots, sweet potato, turnips, etc.
Butter and Margarine: Butter is a dairy product made from cow’s milk. Margarine typically contains milk or soy, but there are milk-free and soy-free versions available.
Milk and Soy Substitutions: Alternative dairy-free milk beverages and products will work in most recipes. Find out more about milk substitutions [1] and soy substitutions [2].
