Recipe Information

Recipe Created By: Cindy

Ingredients

1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup Italian style bread crumbs
3/4 cup milk
1/4 tsp onion salt
dash pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 cup ketchup
4 Tbsp brown sugar
1-2 tsp dry mustard

Directions

Combine oil, bread crumbs and milk, and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir in salt and pepper and add to meat. Mix well. Pat into your loaf shape. We make it into the shape of a big donut in a round shallow pan-this lets the grease accumulate in the center where it is easy to spoon out. Bake at 350 °F for 1 hour. Spoon off fat.

Prepare sauce by combining ketchup, brown sugar and mustard. Spread over meat loaf. Cook for additional 10 minutes.

Notes

Substitutions

Use safe bread crumbs as needed. Verify that ketchup is safe for your needs.
Gluten: Gluten is a protein found in specific grains (wheat, spelt, kamut, barley, rye). Other grains are naturally gluten-free but may have cross-contact with gluten-containing grains. Look for certified gluten-free products if you need to avoid gluten. Find out more about wheat and gluten substitutions [1].
Milk and Soy Substitutions: Alternative dairy-free milk beverages and products will work in most recipes. Find out more about milk substitutions [2] and soy substitutions [3].
