SUMMARY:Food Allergy Awareness Month 2026
DESCRIPTION:During National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month\, we also focus on food allergy awareness. \nA food allergy occurs when the body’s immune system sees a certain food as harmful and reacts by causing allergic symptoms. Foods that cause allergic reactions are allergens. \nAbout 20 million people in the U.S. have food allergies (16 million adults and 4 million children). We commonly hear about children with food allergies. But people can develop a food allergy at any age. Many adults develop food allergies even without a prior history of allergies. \nThere is no cure for food allergies. The only way to prevent an allergic reaction is to avoid the food you are allergic to. The good news is with the right steps\, you can manage your food allergies and live a full life. \nFind food allergy awareness information and social media tools on our Kids with Food Allergies website.

SUMMARY:National FPIES Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:The first National FPIES Awareness Day took place on May 4\, 2015! This day is dedicated to creating and raising awareness about Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES)\, a food allergy of the gastrointestinal system for which there is little awareness and no cure. On this day\, patients\, families\, and organizations from across the U.S. will work together with a common focus and message for FPIES and its symptoms. \nAs the result of the International FPIES Association’s advocacy efforts\, the United States Senate designated May 4th as National FPIES Awareness Day! More than 1\,000 supporters joined our national campaign by signing and sharing the I-FPIES petition to make this day official. In addition\, families in New Jersey and Pennsylvania shared with Senators Booker and Toomey what National FPIES Awareness Day would mean to them\, leading the lawmakers to sponsor and successfully pass Resolution 129 on March 27\, 2015.
